# Professional Referrals

Clinicians, physicians, attorneys, and treatment centers call Torchlight when a client or family needs intervention, treatment placement, or coordinated support beyond the referring professional's role.

## Clinicians and Physicians

Torchlight takes responsibility for family coordination, intervention planning, treatment logistics, and recovery support between appointments. The referring clinician or physician remains responsible for clinical care.

John communicates with the treatment team under the permissions established by the client and family, and reports attendance and monitoring results within that release. Torchlight does not diagnose, prescribe, or replace therapy, psychiatry, or medical care.

## Attorneys and Legal Professionals

Torchlight helps clients and families act on a recovery plan when substance use or mental health concerns are affecting a legal matter. We define our role at the start, protect confidentiality, and coordinate with counsel without offering legal or clinical advice.

## Treatment Centers

Treatment centers involve Torchlight before admission, at a step-down between levels of care, or at discharge. We prepare a family for treatment, arrange Safe Passage transportation, and coordinate continuing care after a client leaves the program, including sober living placement, monitoring, and attendance at aftercare.

Torchlight supports the treatment plan and helps the client and family follow it in daily life. Clinical decisions stay with the treatment team.

## What Happens After a Referral

1. **Call John** — The first call is a 30-minute conversation with John Furtmeier, Torchlight's CEO. He asks what decision needs to be made, who is involved, and what support is already in place.
2. **Confirm the right fit** — John tells you whether Torchlight should lead the work. If another provider is better suited to the situation, he makes that referral.
3. **Set the next action** — When Torchlight is the right fit, John defines the next step. That may be an assessment, an intervention, treatment placement, case management, coaching, transportation, monitoring, or continuing care.
4. **Coordinate the plan** — Torchlight establishes the communication plan, releases, responsibilities, and next check-in with the client, family, and professional team.

- Your role, organization, and relationship to the client or family
- The decision or transition that requires support
- Any immediate safety concern
- The professionals and family members already involved
- The current level of care, if any, and the discharge date if one is set
- The outcome you want the first conversation to produce
